How to Fix Discord Connection Issues On Mobile

Discord can sometimes have connection issues, especially on mobile. You can find the fix here if you are currently facing such an issue. I have put together multiple solutions to Fix Discord Connection Issues on Mobile.

Discord Connection Issues

Discord is undoubtedly one of the biggest social networking platforms, especially for gamers and community builders.

Millions of users rely on Discord Mobile in order to stay connected with their community. Like any other social media platform, Discord can sometimes act up too.

It’s infrequent for platforms like Discord to have issues on the backend, which is why you must figure out why your Discord is not working.

If Discord’s servers are having issues, you can do nothing about it, but if something is wrong with the app, your phone, or your network connection, there is a lot you can do to make it work again.

We will first try to diagnose why Discord might not be working on your mobile phone, and then apply the appropriate fix.

Check your Internet connection

The first and foremost thing is to check your internet connection. Make sure your internet connection is working and you do have mobile data.  In case you have run out of data or you have poor internet coverage, apps like Discord won’t work. Before jumping towards any other solution, thoroughly check your connection. Sometimes we have the flight mode turned on and we completely forget that. If you are using a VPN, try turning it off or switching to a different server.

Check if something is wrong with Discord

If Discord stops working on your phone all of a sudden while you have made no changes at all, the first thing you should do is to go online and check whether the issue is at Discord’s end. You can check out the Discord Reddit thread or read on platforms like Twitter. If other Discord users are also facing similar issues, then it’s not your fault. All you can do is wait and hope for the Discord team to bring it back live again.

Check Discord on DownDetector

Discord status on Downdetector.com

DownDetector is a website where you can view the current status or uptime of any website. It enlists the status of all big websites and apps on its homepage. You can run a query about Discord on DownDetector. If it returns Discord being offline, it would mean that Discord is having server issues and it can only be fixed by its team.

Many websites go through such breakdowns every now and then. In fact, we have had some seriously troubling crashes in the recent past when applications/websites like YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram went down. Although it’s very uncommon, it can still happen.

Check for Discord Updates

On your mobile phone, go to the Play Store or App Store. Check if there is an update available for Discord. If an update is pending, install it and give Discord a try again. It might just work.

Clear Discord App’s cache

On your Android mobile phone, long-press the Discord icon and click on the “Info” icon. Now go to Storage > Clear Data & Cache. Open the Discord App and if it successfully works, you can log in to your account again.

Allow Data Usage to Discord

For this, you will have to go to Discord settings again which you can do by long-pressing the Discord App Icon and then clicking on the info button. Now go to “Application Data Usage” and turn on “Allow background data usage”. If this is turned off, Discord won’t function properly.

Re-install Discord App

If everything is fine on your phone and Discord still won’t load, you can simply delete the application. Now re-install it and if it works this time, you can log back in.

Open Discord in a Mobile Browser

If the app still fails to work and returns a network or connection error, you can simply open Discord.com in your mobile browser. This will take you to the Discord website interface and you can easily use that instead of using the Discord application. Furthermore, you can switch to the desktop version of Discord by going into the options in your mobile browser.

Try using Google DNS

Google DNS can be super helpful at times. To enable Google DNS, you will have to switch to the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS servers. You can do this by going to the Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Private DNS > Set 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 as the DNS server. Restart your mobile phone and try launching the Discord mobile app now.

Those were all the possible solutions to Fix Discord Connection issues on mobile. I do hope one of these solutions proved to be fruitful and you have Discord working on your mobile phone now.
